So, as elated as I was yesterday, I am FURIOUS today.
When we were at the old house yesterday, we noticed quite a few wheel marks crunched into the dead grass, some of which lead directly to our shed. I didn't take much notice though, I figured it was just my Dad who keeps an eye on the place.
Now, with the house, we inherited a shed FULL of stuff - lots of it antique. Recently I found a place I could sell some of it, so I thought what the hey - i'll sell it and use the money on the house. We rarely go further than the front door area of the shed, as it's where we store our mower, whipper snipper etc. Yesterday we realised there would be a lot of redbacks in there, so we set off a couple of bug bombs.
Today, we went back to do more work and I thought while I was there, I would take some photos of the antiques and post them on the site I found.
Except most of it is gone. We didn't notice because it was in the middle of the shed, and hidden by a large wardrobe from where we usually go. Whole tables that had been full - gone. Whole wardrobes that had been filled to the brim with antique kitchenware - gone. The wardrobes are empty. There are shelves all down one wall - there are actually clean spots in the dust where things were - and obviously not too long ago!
Now while the stuff wasn't mine in the first place, and I wasn't too attached to it, or even expecting to make much from it, the fact that some toerag thought it was okay to break (yes, we discovered they had broken the door lock) into MY PROPERTY and take something that clearly didn't belong to them, incenses me so badly they're probably lucky I didn't catch them in the act.
And I think it was calculated too - it seems odd that all the things around the doors were left, including power tools, bikes, etc - it's almost like they were hoping we wouldn't notice because the stuff we regularly use is still there. It really does seem like whomever did it, knew what was there - I can't help thinking that if it were an opportunist, they would have taken the easy money too, the tools and garden equipment. And that makes me even madder.
The sooner we can finish the house and cut ties with that place, the better.
